Fighting Your Addiction to Approval

Pastors are under constant pressure to pursue their own approval. It is an addicting and inordinate desire that will kill you and your ministry if you let it feed on your heart. It will confuse your congregation and deprive the saints.

Pastor Jeremy Adelman struggles with the approval addiction, and if you are a pastor, then you probably do as well. Let's address it together. Jeremy will remind us of the dangers it can have on our ministry, and the impact it will have on our congregations.

When John Owen wrote, be killing sin or it will be kiling you, our addiction to approval is a fitting application as pastors. Let's kill it, before it kills us.

Speaker: Jeremy Adelman is the Senior Pastor at River City Church in Minneapolis. River City (formerly First Baptist Church) is a 170 year old church and Jeremy is leading them through a replanting process. He also serves as the Regional Director for The Gospel Coalition - Twin Cities. In his four year pastorate at River City, he has led his church through several signficant changes and has had to constatly fight against the need for approval in the face of very difficult decisions. By God's grace, River City in a healthy replanting process, and excited for what is to come. Jeremy is married to his lovely wife Megan and together they have four children.
